Baseball's Maher gets win in Northwoods

June 20, 2013

Tommie pitcher Steve Maher took his first Northwoods League victory on Wednesday as he threw three scoreless innings in Waterloo's 4-3 win at Duluth. Maher got a bases-loaded double-play grounder to escape the fifth inning.   Maher, an All-America and two-year standout at UST, lowered his earned-run average to 1.92 in seven appearances thus far in the summer wood-bat league.   Maher was 4-2 with a 2.53 ERA in 46.1 innings last spring with the Tommies and repeated as All-MIAC.
