St. Thomas is ranked second nationally in the 2013 preseason poll by Collegiate Baseball News.

The 2012 Tommies earned a third-place NCAA finish out of 365 Division III programs and closed 41-10, including 10 postseason victories. Their 41 wins were the second most in conference history.

The Toms, who have won 10 consecutive MIAC regular-season titles, went 16-0 in April during a school-record 21-game win streak. They tied an conference record with their 19-1 regular-season mark. Statistically, St. Thomas ranked first nationally in two categories in 2012 -- its .975 fielding percentage, and 3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

The Toms had three All-Americas, plus a conference Pitcher of the Year and both the Midwest Region Pitcher and Player of the Year.  Seven seniors graduated but four of the top five pitchers and most position players are back.

Coach Chris Olean's team comes into 2013 with a 26-game home-field win streak.

Wheaton (Mass.), last year's runner-up, received the No. 1 ranking. UW-LaCrosse, UW-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point rank 15-18-25, and St. Scholastica is ranked No. 30.
