2012 Season...Among the best hitters in the country and school history with an already impressive resume with back-to-back 40+ hit seasons. Enters junior year as a career .340 hitter with 99 hits in 90 career games to go along with 52 rbi’s and 64 runs scored. Highly talented player has one of the best swings in recent team history complimented with excellent bat speed and the ability to hit to all fields. Named 2012 First Team All-MIAC selection after hitting .382 with 21 hits, 4 doubles, 14 runs scored, collecting 30 total bases with one homerun and 15 rbi’s in conference play. Finished fourth overall in the conference with 34 runs scored and ranked third with 58 total hits. Had a career best .341 average on the season in 50 games played with three homeruns, 37 rbi’s, 12 doubles, 83 total bases, 12 walks and was 6-for-7 in stolen base attempts. In addition to posting an impressive .396 on-base percentage while hitting either second or fifth in the Tommie lineup and slugging at a .488 clip. Led the team with sixteen multi-hit contests in 2012 collected at least two hit or more against nationally ranked opponents UW-Lacrosse, UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh, Chicago and St. John’s University. Went 5-for-7 with a career high 5 rbi’s in double-header sweep over University of Chicago (3/23/12) in Winter Haven, Florida. Launched first collegiate homerun and went 5-for-8 with a double, four runs scored and four rbi’s in double-header sweep versus Concordia-Moorhead (4/30/12). Erupted in postseason play for the Tommies hitting UST’s first leadoff homerun since Mike Kimlinger hit a homerun leading off against Gustavus in the 2004 MIAC Tournament (5/14/12) in Dundas, Northfield. Finished regional play with 2-for-4 performance in championship series against UW-Whitewater (5/19/12) concluded series with five hits, three runs, one homerun and three rbi’s. Opened NCAA World Series play with 2-for-6 performance with a double and two rbi’s against Christopher Newport (5/25/12). Had three multi-hit performances in the College World Series gong 2-for-5 in both games against Wheaton and SUNY-Cortland, finished tournament play with seven hits, five rbi’s and four runs scored. Played with the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League. Enters the 2013 season as one of four Tommie team captains.
2011 Season...Extremely talented outfielder who made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2011 and solidified the role as the Tommies everyday right fielder while locking down the number two spot in the batting order. Made first collegiate start in right field for the Tommies against Anderson University (5/19/11) in Auburndale, Florida. Collected first collegiate hit and rbi in first official at-bat against Anderson finishing the day 2 for 3 with 3 rbi's. Was one of eleven freshman to see extensive playing time in 2011 and along with teammate JD Dorgan was just one of two position players to start regularly for the Tommies. Made 38 starts (29 in right field, 7 at designated hitter and 2 in left field) while posting a .929 fielding percentage with 51 putouts. Collected 10 multi-hit games including three 3-hit performances to go along with five multi-rbi games. Was as hot as any hitter in the country after a twelve game road trip in Florida batting .455 (10x22) with five runs scored, six rbi's and four doubles. Was third on the team in overall hitting in MIAC contest with a .326 average, .446 on-base percentage, totaling 15 hits and 18 total bases. Finished the season with a .339 overall average in 121 at-bats totaling the highest single season average for a freshman outfielder since Tayler Rahm batted .373 with 91 at-bats in 2008. Finished tied for third on the team with 30 runs scored and tied for second in walks (20) and on-base percentage (.437%). Totaled 41 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 15 rbi's, 50 total bases and a .413 slugging percentage. Also played hockey for the Tommies in 2011.
High School...2010 Lakeville North High School Graduate. Two-Time All Conference performer for the Panthers in Baseball was also an All Conference performer in Hockey and led Lakeville North to two State Tournament berths. Batted .405 for the Panthers as a senior while collecting 30 hits and driving in 18 runs. In the summer of 2010 led the Lakeville North Panthers in American Legion batting .363 with 37 hits, 10 doubles, 1 homerun, 52 total bases, 18 rbi's and 28 runs scored in 102 at-bats.
Personal...Son of Tom and Ruth Kuzniar...Majoring in Business...Father Tom Graduated from the University of St. Thomas, Brother Mike Kuzniar was also a Tommie varsity outfielder playing for Coach Dennis Denning in 2004-2005...Biggest Sports Thrill...Playing in the State Hockey Tournament.
