Brandon Staley enters his first season as an assistant coach on Coach Glenn Caruso¹s staff. He will coach the Tommie defensive line. Staley recently finished a three-year stint as a graduate assistant coach for the Northern Illinois defense from 2006-2008. During his time at NIU, the Huskies made two Division I bowl appearances (2006 Poinsettia Bowl, 2008 Independence Bowl)
   
Staley was  four-year letterwinner at quarterback for the University of Dayton and captained the Flyers in his senior season of 2004. He posted a 16-5 career record in two seasons as a starter, including a 9-2 mark his junior year when Dayton was ranked No. 5 in the country by Football Gazette That publication also named Staley to its preseason All-America second team entering the 2004 campaign. His senior season, UD again achieved a No. 5 ranking en route to a 7-3 record. As the Flyers' starting QB, Staley completed 168 of 293 passes for 2,609 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed for 639 yards and 11 scores. As a junior, he compiled 1,961 yards of total offense, the fourth-highest single season mark in school history. His total included 1,617 passing and 344 rushing yards; he added eight rushing TDs while completing 100-of-169 passes. His senior season, Staley completed 68-of-124 throws for 992 yards and six TDs and ran for 295 yards on 84 carries. He was a four-time member of the Pioneer Football League All-Academic list.
   
Named MVP of his Perry High School football and basketball teams, Staley was named Lake County Offensive Player of the Year, All-Northeast Ohio and Special Mention All-Ohio as a senior. He also set the basketball school records for assists in a game, season and career.
   
He graduated from Dayton in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and is pursuing his master's degree in Counseling, Adult and Higher Education.
