
St. Thomas will have a new football schedule for 2010 that includes a new draw in conference play, two new non-conference opponents, and a bye week set for the final game of the regular season (Nov. 13).
Coach Glenn Caruso's Tommies, who reached the national quarterfinals in 2009 with an 11-2 final record, start the 2010 season with a Sept. 4 game in DePere, Wis., against St. Norbert. The Green Knights will debut a new stadium on that day.
UST plays its home opener Sept. 11 against UW-River Falls, a team it scrimmaged at home last August. St. Thomas' campus Homecoming festivities will be the weekend of the Oct. 23 game against Bethel.
Other home games for St. Thomas will be conference tests Sept. 25 vs. Concordia-Moorhead; Oct. 9 vs. Augsburg; and Nov. 6 vs. Carleton.
St. Thomas starts its MIAC season Sept. 18 at St. Olaf and also have road games at St. John's (Oct. 2), Hamline (Oct. 16) and at Gustavus (Oct. 30).
Start times for all 10 regular-season games will likely be 1 p.m.
The Tommies also will have new locker rooms and meeting rooms and a new weight room when the Anderson Athletics and Recreation Center opens in August 2010.
St. Norbert, 9-1 last season, has won 91 games over the last 10 seasons. The Green Knights' lone defeat in 2009 was 52-24 at Monmouth, the team UST topped 43-21 on the road in the first round of the NCAA playoffs.
