St. Thomas will open the NCAA Division III football playoffs at home Saturday with a noon game against a familiar opponent -– St. Norbert College of De Pere, Wis.
The No. 3 Tommies (10-0, 8-0 MIAC) defeated the Green Knights (8-2) in season-opening games in 2010 and 2011, winning 20-7 at home last year and 40-7 on the road in 2010.
Tickets will go on sale at 10:30 p.m. at $8 for adults and $4 for students. The stadium gates will open at 11 a.m. Tickets will not sell out -- the stadium can accomodate more than 4,000 in the stands plus if ever needed another few thousand in standing room areas.
The game will have live radio on WCCO 830 AM, live stats and live video.
WCCO Radio, 830 AM, will again carry all Tommie football games live on radio and the internet. Dave Lee will call the game with Eric Nelson adding color and sideline interviews. WCCO is now in its 89th consecutive season of broadcasting Saturday college football games. Its acclaimed clear-channel signal extends throughout Minnesota and into parts of Canada, the Dakotas, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.
