Ryan Collins in battle to make Ravens' roster
August 9, 2000
Former Tommie All-America tight end Ryan Collins caught two passes for 26 yards in Saturday's first preseason game for the Baltimore Ravens. His 17-yard catch late in the game set up a game-winning field goal.
Collins was hoping be the team's No. 2 tight end behind newly acquired All-Pro Shannon Sharpe. But three days before came began, the Ravnes added All-Pro tight end Ben Coates, the former New England star. So Collins is battling with free agent rookie John Jones for a roster spot.
