5 Toms are All-MIAC in football

Five St. Thomas players were named first-team All-MIAC and three others earned honorable mention on teams announced today.

Senior Mike Westland (FB), juniors Andy Kaiser (DT) and Brent Nelson (DE) and sophomores Jake Barkley (RB) and Andrew Hilliard (WR) were among 42 players honored on the first team.

Honorable mention picks were senior Brett Gjovik (DB), junior Bob Hannah (LB) and sophomore Rick Joslin (LB).

The Tommies closed 6-3 in the MIAC and tied St. Olaf and Gustavus for third place. It was UST's fifth-consecutive top-three MIAC finish.
