Football cruises to 54-0 win at Macalester

The St. Thomas football team stormed to a 40-0 halftime lead and went on to score a 54-0 win at Macalester Saturday in MIAC play on the Scots field. The Tommies won their third in a row and remained in a tie for second in the MIAC at 5-1 with St. John's behind 6-0 Bethel.
Although many of their starters played just two quarters, the Tommies rolled up 444 yards of offense. The UST defense recorded four interceptions, five sacks, a safety, a fumble return for a TD, and held Macalester to 101 total yards, including minus-12 yards net rushing.
Jake Barkley rushed 20 times for 96 yards and had three short TD runs; Andrew Hilliard had five catches for 87 yards including a 28-yard TD catch, his 10th TD catch in six games this season; Jon Learn caught five passes for 65 yards; Nick Ambrasas was 16-of-23 passing for 231 yards and no pickoffs; Matt Meunier intercepted two passes and now has six on the season; Conor Casey recorded a safety; and freshman Joe Skaja had a four-yeard fumble return for a second-half TD.
The Tommies host Gustavus Saturday as they try to remain in the MIAC title race.
