Football's Steve Groth stars in Aztec Bowl for Team USA

St. Thomas senior Steve Groth had a dominant game at cornerback to help Team USA defeat Mexico 23-3 Saturday in Cancun, Mexico.

The win was the seventh in eight tries for the United States in what has become an annual battle between the top college football players in Mexico and the top Division III players in the United States.

Groth (SR-Apple Valley/Eastview) had an interception, a team-best seven tackles and two pass break-ups. The Team USA defense forced six Mexico turnovers and held the home team to 107 yards in total offense in the second half.
