Saturday's game is also Neighborhood Day -- a special welcome goes out to St. Paul residents, as well as new UST students, staff and faculty. The Toms¹ 1956 MIAC champion team will be honored at halftime.

St. Thomas has lost three games in a row dating back to last season, with turnovers the main culprit. In a 35-10 loss at No. 8-ranked Central and a 31-23 loss at Loras, the Tommies have lost seven turnovers and had two punts blocked. UST has been outscored 42-0 in the first quarter thus far in 2007 after allowing a total of 15 first-quarter points in 2006.

Gustavus has won five in a row since last October (Macalester, Augsburg, Concordia, Carleton, Willamette). The Gusties opened their 2007 season and unveiled their new stadium last Saturday with a 34-25 win over Willamette.

Junior WR Chad Arlt had a monster day with a school-record 15 receptions for 229 yards and two TDs. Senior RB Mitch Anderson rushed for 142 yards and scored two TDs. The Gusties, who had no turnovers last week, start six seniors on offense, including Jordan Stolp, who has played QB, punter and placekicker throughout his career. In 31 career games Stolp has 45 TD passes, 45 interceptions and has completed 499-of-969 for 5,965 yards.

The Toms have a bye next Saturday and play here Sept. 29 vs. Bethel.

UST and Gustavus also play a JV game at O'Shaughnessy Stadium Monday (6:30 p.m.)
