No. 3-ranked St. Thomas used a 27-2 run in the last 13:00 of the first half to take control in Monday night's 90-48 road win over Bethel in MIAC men's basketball play in Arden Hills.
Senior Tommy Hannon had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Toms (12-0 overall, 7-0 MIAC), who shot 59 percent from the floor and had only 12 turnovers. UST built a 42-12 halfime lead en route to their second consecutive 42-point victory.
The Royals (7-5, 3-4), who had a five-game winning streak halted, shot just 27 percent from the field in the first half, including an 0-of-9 spell from bonus range.
BU senior All-MIAC forward Taylor Hall, the reigning conference Player of the Week who came in averaging 23.2 ppg on the season, was limited to nine points in 29 minutes, all in the second half.
Twelve different players scored for St. Thomas, which rolled up a 44-20 advantage in bench points. Conner Nord had 12 points, Zach Riedeman chipped in 11, and John Nance had nine points and six assists.
St. Thomas has won 20 of its last 21 games dating back to last season. Coach John Tauer's team improved to 7-0 on the road this season.
The Tommies are home to face Gustavus on Wednesday night and St. John's on Saturday afternoon.
