Brenden leads Tommies past Hamline

Mychal Brenden scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the second half to lead host St. Thomas (12-4 overall, 8-4 MIAC) past Hamline (1-15, 1-11) in MIAC men's basketball Saturday in Schoenecker Arena.

Mark Buri had 13 points and four steals, Kevin Fitzgerald added 12 points and Mike Wrobel had six points and 10 rebounds for the Tommies, who shot 45% from the field.UST made 22-of-28 at the foul line to Hamline's 9-of-12.

Mike Robison had 10 points and 10 rebounds and John Simonsen and Jim Miller each scored 12 points for the Pipers.

Hamline used a 10-2 run to tie the score at 32-32 with 55 seconds to play in the first half. Brenden Finn came off the bench to sink a 3-pointer for the Toms, then Buri sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer from just inside half court for a 38-32 halftime lead.

The Pipers pulled within 60-56 with 6:00 left but made only one field goal thereafter.
