Men's Basketball gets 76-46 home win over Northwestern

Mark Buri (SR-St. Paul/Trinity) had 17 points, six assists, six rebounds and five steals to lead the St. Thomas men's basketball team (3-0) to a 76-46 non-conference win over Northwestern College (3-3) Tuesday night in the Tommies' home opener in Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies, ranked 18th nationally by d3hoops.com, made 13-of-28 3-pointers, including four off the bench by guard Michael Koerpel (FR-Rhinelander, Wis.), who finished with a career-high 14 points.
Kevin Fitzgerald (JR-Centerville/St. Thomas Academy) added 13 points and eight rebounds and Jimmy Sioris (JR-Edina) scored 11 for the Tommies.
St. Thomas used a 19-4 run to build a 29-17 first-half lead. The Toms led 38-24 at halftime, and after the Eagles made a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 11, UST used a 13-0 run to build a 51-27 lead.
John Anderstrom had 14 points for the Eagles, who shot just 29% from the field, including 6-of-25 from 3-point range.
The Tommies close their non-conference season Saturday at UW-River Falls (7 p.m.).
