Brendan Finn named MIAC men's hoops Player of the Week

University of St. Thomas guard Brendan Finn (JR-Deephaven/Minnetonka HS) was named MIAC men's basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 3.

Finn scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to help the Tommies score a 79-71 MIAC win over Bethel Saturday in a battle of expected MIAC title contenders. It was the second time in as many games in an eight-day span that Finn scored 23 points. He made 6-of-9 3-point baskets, including five in the second half. Two of those treys fueled a 20-5 run that erased a 49-44 Bethel lead.

A first-year starter, Finn leads the 4-1 Tommies this season at 17.6 ppg and has made 15-of-16 at the foul line (94%) and 21-of-37 from 3-point range (57%).

The Tommies, 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference, hosts Hamline Wednesday (7:30 p.m.) and plays Saturday at St. John's (3 p.m.).
