Tommie junior Keaton Wendroth placed 40th in a field of 453 finishers Friday to lead UST to 10th place out of 26 teams at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold men's cross country invitational in Colfax, Wis.
UW-LaCrosse (54), St. Olaf (80) and Central (Iowa) (98) took the first three places.
St. Thomas scored 288, points just behind Carleton's 283. The Tommies competed without No. 2 runner Ben Rascher.
Wendroth clocked 25:54 and was the ninth MIAC finisher); freshman Jacob Gehartz was 53th (26:11).
The Tommies put 10 more runners in the top 130, and their Nos. 3-12 finishers were bunched in a 49-second spread: Robby Williams was 79th (26:35); Brian Anderson took 91st (26:43); Dylan Baumann was 96th (26:46); William Manaker was 103rd (26:54); Scott Fusco placed 112th (27:00); freshman Tom Dolan placed 122nd (27:07); freshman Trevor Smith placed 131st (27:12); Ethan Armbruster was 135th (27:16); Nick Jackson and Tyler Krpan placed 146th and 147th (both 27:24).
