Men's Cross Country second at Gettysburg race

The St. Thomas men's cross country team put five runners in the top 30 and placed second of 20 teams in Saturday's Gettysburg (Pa.) Invitational.
Loyola (Md.) won with 50 points followed by the Tommies (104), Coast Guard (113) and Johns Hopkins (114).
Soph Logan O'Grady was seventh in a field of 208 finishers with a time of 26:16 for 8,000 meters. UST put its Nos. 2-6 finishers within 19 seconds -- sophs Matt Boumeester (23rd, 27:02) and Rorak Hooten (27th, 27:06); freshmen Seth Rosvold (28th, 27:06) and George Williams (31st, 27:21); and soph Kyle Brandon (36th, 27:21). Soph Scott Smith (51st, 27:41) was close behind the pack.
The Tommies sent a second team to Saturday's UW-Superior Invite and were led by sophomores David Erstad (13th, 28:51), Brendan Sherman (17th, 29:10) and Ryan Chapman (18th, 29:19). Other finishers were freshmen Mike Connell (21st, 29:47) and Nick George (24th, 30:01); soph Jason Mansur (27th, 30:23); and freshman Phil Caucutt (29th, 30:36).
