St. Thomas junior Matt Boumeester placed eighth in a field of 287 finishers Friday to lead the Tommie men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish out of 20 squads at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invite. The race was held in windy conditions in Colfax, Wis.
Minnesota-Duluth took first with 65 points. Wartburg (76), Macalester (134), UST (135), St. Olaf (142) and UW-Stevens Point(161) rounded out the top six team placers.
Boumeester clocked 26:40. Neil Atzinger (18th, 27:00), Brian Sames (24th, 27:10), Seth Rosvold (47th, 27:27), Rorak Hooten (52nd, 27:40), Kyle Brandon (86th, 28:23), Greg Dowe (91st, 28:29), Scott Smith (94th, 28:31), Nick Michalek (108, 28:43) and Mike Connell (139th, 29:12) rounded out UST's top 10.
