James Stafford won medalist honors, and the Tommie men's golf team placed fourth of 14 teams at the
36-hole Augsburg Invite. The two-day tourney concluded Sunday in Ham Lake.
Stafford , a senior from Esko, Minn., shot 70-74/144 to rule the field of 74 players. Stafford (shown at right) was two strokes better than Derek Holmes of UW-Stout.
Stout (598)rallied for a three-stroke win over Luther (601). UW-Eau Claire (602), UST (605) and Bethel (608) took the second through sixth spots.
The Tommies, who beat all seven other MIAC teams in the tournament, shot 298 and 307/605.
Junior Sean Barrett shot 72-76/148 to tie for seventh; Grant Shafranski shot 80-76/156 to tie for 31st; Brandon Eggebos shot 77-81/158 to share 37th; and Brian Parkhurst took 54th place with rounds of 79-84/163.
The Toms play next weekend in the St. John's Fall Invite.
