Shafranski shoots 72, Men's Golf gets close second

Grant Shafranski shot 72 for medalist honors in a field of 33 players, but the St. Thomas men's golf team took second by one stroke in Thursday's six-team UW-Eau Claire Spring Invitational.

Host Eau Claire shot 306 to edge St. Thomas (307), UW-Stout (311), Viterbo (311), Eau Claire #2 (313) and Stout #2 (317).

Shafranski topped UWEC's Ryan Grip and Viterbo's Micahel Hesselman by one stroke.

Other UST scorers were Chris Sall (77), Sean Barrett (78), Bill Mullvahill (80) and Ben Jensen (85).

The Toms compete Friday in the UW-Stout Tournament.
