Kapraun, Parkhurst finish in top 40 at NCAAs

Alex Kapraun and Brian Parkhurst closed strong and placed in the top 40 at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in Destin, Fla.

Kapraun shot 73 on Friday and closed with a score of 299 and tied for 27th place out of 81 remaining players. Parkhurst shot 74 on Friday and closed at 302 to tie for 37th place.

 

Thursday story

Alex Kapraun and Brian Parkhurst each shot 80s in Thursday's third round of play at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in Destin, Fla.

Kapraun is at 226 and tied for 36th place out of 81 remaining players. Parkhurst is at 228 and tied for 43rd place.

The two will complete the tourney with 18 holes on Saturday.

 

Wednesday story

The St. Thomas men came in 19th out of 41 teams but missed the 15-team cut for the last two days of the NCAA Championships in Destin, Fla.

Two Tommies will advance to play the final two rounds as individuals -- Alex Kapraun and Brian Parkhurst.

UST shot 303 on Wednesday to go with Tuesday's 310.

Kapraun is tied for 15th after Tuesday's 71. Parkhurst is tied for 23rd after also shooting 71. 

 

Tuesday story

The Tommie men's golf team shot 310 and is tied for 20th place out of 41 teams after Tuesday's first round in the NCAA Championships in Destin, Fla.

Sophomore All-America Alex Kapraun shot 75 and is tied for 48th out of 210 players. Brian Parkhurst shot 77, Michael Mortenson carded a 78, John Young shot 80 and Bennett Schroeder had an 83.

The Tommies need to shoot a lower score on Wednesday to make the 15-team cut. Last year, the Toms shot 301-302/603 and missed the cut by one shot.
