Men's Hockey stays hot, gets 5-1 road victory

Five different players had goals, two by power plays, as No. 8-ranked St. Thomas men topped the Auggies, 5-1, in Friday night’s MIAC hockey game in Minneapolis.

Junior Drew Fielding stopped 21 of 22 shots. His teammates killed off all five Augsburg power plays. UST has killed of 16 of its last 17 opponent power plays.

St. Thomas (13-3-2 overall, 7-0-2 MIAC) has allowed just three goals in its last five games.

Alex Altenbernd and Tyler Gubb each had a goal and an assist. Connor McBride and Nick Nielsen each had two assists. Alex Niestrom, Thomas Williams and Johnny Roisum each scored one goal.

The Tommies are 11-0 in games when Gubb has scored a goal during his 31-game UST career.

The teams play again Saturday in Mendota Heights (7 p.m.).
