Junior goalie Drew Fielding recorded his 10th career shutout with 23 saves and No. 6-ranked St. Thomas (8-1-2) pulled away late to score a 3-0 victory over No. 9 St. Scholastica (8-3-2) in Saturday night's non-conference men's hockey play in Duluth.
The Tommies have allowed just six goals during their current six-game unbeaten streak (4-0-2). They used an early goal and two more scores in the game's final 5:00.
Connor McBride scored 12:26 into the first period. With the score still just 1-0 into the final minutes, Steve Sorenson provided some cushion with a goal with 4:40 remaining. Jeremy Hepler scored with three seconds to play.
UST killed off all three Saints' power plays and have killed 14 in a row over five games.
The Tommies are off until Jan. 4 when they play at No. 3-ranked St. Norbert.
