Men's Hockey falls 1-0 at St. John's

A goal with 8:00 to play broke a scoreless tie and lifted No. 4-ranked St. John's to a 1-0 vcitory over No. 13 St. Thomas in MIAC men's hockey play Saturday in St. Cloud.

The Johnnies (19-3-1 ovcerall, 13-1 MIAC) completed a weekend sweep and became the first team to shutout the Tommies in conference play in nine seasons. St. Thomas (13-7-3, 11-2-1) was outshot 22-14.

UST goalie Zach Sikich stopped 21 of 22 shots. SJU's Adam Hanna stopped all 14 he faced and 30 of 31 on the weekend.

The Tommies close the regular season vs. third-place Gustavus and need a tie or a win to clinch second place and a March 4 home playoff game. The teams play Thursday in Mendota Heights at Saint Thomas Ice Arena (7 p.m.) and Friday in St. Peter (7 p.m.).
