
Third-place St. Thomas had six players, all seniors, honored on the 2007 All-MIAC Men's Soccer teams.
Joe Voeller, Thomas Gjervold, Dan Hutton and Max Weber were among 20 players on the first team.
Honorable mention picks were midfielder Adam Michalik (JR-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest); and defender Eric Schmitt (SR-Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier), a repeat honoree.
Hutton was a repeat honoree on the sportsmanship team.
The Tommie seniors helped compile a 44-19-10 record in their era.
Gjervold (seven goals/six assists in nine games) and Voeller (five goals/three assists in 10 games) finished first and third in MIAC scoring.
Voeller (SR-White Bear Lake/Hill-Murray) played in 53 games over three seasons at UST and had 21 goals and eight assists for 50 career points. He led the Toms in scoring this season with 10 goals and four assists, and shared the team lead in scoring in 2006 with seven goals and three assists. In all three Tommie ties in 2006 (1-1), Voeller scored the team's only goal, including the tying goal vs. Augsburg in the 84th minute. He also scored the winning goal in the 84th minute to beat Carroll (Wis.). The Tommies were 14-0-3 on his career when he scored a goal.
Gjervold (SR-Eden Prairie) had nine goals and six assists in 18 games. He missed the key Oct. 27 Gustavus game with an injury and played four days later on a sprained ankle yet scored a goal in a 2-1 playoff loss to the Gusties.
Weber finished his career with 39 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 66 games, including three goals and four assists this season.
Hutton was a part of 15 shutouts on his career in 49 games. He was 9-3-3 in goal this season with all the losses to nationally-ranked teams. His career record was 24-7-6.
Michalik played in 55 career games and had 13 points (five goals, three assists). The Health Promotion major has a 3.50 gpa.
Schmitt played in 68 games and scored two assists on his career. He has a 3.78 gpa in Financial Management.
