Meet Coach Denzil Lue and staff

Head Coach/Denzil Lue

Denzil Lue has been affiliated with UST men's soccer for nearly 25 years as
a player and coach. He just completed his 21st season as head coach, having
had only three losing records and two finishes out of the top five in the
MIAC standings.

Lue's St. Thomas teams have made the NCAA playoffs four times, won four MIAC
championships and had 11 top-three conference finishes. He's approaching 200
career victories, standing 198-115-43 all-time. His MIAC record during that
span is 120-57-27. He won MIAC Coach of the Year honors in 1985 and 1991.

Lue is a member of the Jamaica Soccer Hall of Fame after playing on his
country's national team and coaching Jamaica's 19-under national team. He's
also a member of the Minnesota Soccer Hall of Fame as he's also coached the
Minnesota men's amateur team to the 1990 national championship and the 1996
Minnesota Men's Amateur Select team to the Region II title. He's a licensed
coach of the U.S. Soccer Federation.

Asst. Coach/Stan Mirza

Stan Mirza has been a UST assistant coach for 17 seasons. Born in the
Ukraine and raised in Belgium, Mirza was a goalkeeper in Australia and in
the U.S. Army. A licensed USSF coach, he directed the Cougars men's team to
numerous state titles. He was the
longtime head coach of the U.S.A. National Amateur women's team and
established the Midwest Region Women's Select team program. He also served
as state head coach
of Minnesota Youth Soccer Assocation and Minnesota Senior Soccer Association.

Recruiting Coordinator/Aaron Macke

Aaron Macke was a four-year starter and a three-year co-captain for Coach
Denzil Lue at St. Thomas (1993-96). Macke received All-Region and All-MIAC
honors as a player and helped UST win an MIAC title and reach the NCAA
playoffs in 1995. He's now in his second season as an assistant coach for
the Tommies. He was an all-state player at Cretin-Derham Hall and also
played on the Minnesota Men's State Select team and on the 1996 Men's USA
Midwest Regional Select team.

Junior-Varsity Coach/Youssef Darbaki

Youssef Darbaki was a member of Morroco's B National Team and played in the
Junior National World Cup tournament in Brazil. He also played pro soccer in
France and in the U.S. for the Chicago Power team. He's been a varsity
assistant and junior-varsity head coach for several seasons at St. Thomas,
and also has coached other club and youth teams in Minnesota.
