Men's Soccer wins 1-0, makes playoffs

David Wingard scored in the seventh minute as St. Thomas scored a 1-0 win over visiting Bethel in MIAC men's soccer Saturday on the Tommies' field.
St. John's won today 2-1 to clinch a playoff berth, but St. Olaf lost 1-0 to rival Carleton to give the Tommies fourth place and the fourth seed for the playoffs.
The Tommies (12-6 overall, 7-3 MIAC) are the fourth seed and will play top-seed Macalester Wednesday at a time to be announced (likely 7:30 p.m. under the lights). Secons-seed Gustavus will host third-seed St. John's Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Orin Kipp had five saves with his third shutout of the season. UST outshot the Royals 20-16.
