October 13, 2004
Freshman Nick Radigan's 30-foot blast above a leaping Concordia goalkeeper with 1:11 remaining gave host St. Thomas a 1-0 victory over the Cobbers in MIAC men's soccer play Wednesday night.

The Tommies (10-3-1 overall, 4-3 MIAC) reached 10 victories on the season for the 11th time in the last 15 seasons. The Cobbers (1-11-2, 0-6-1) were outshot in shots on goal 10-5 as it lost its fourth consecutive one-goal decision to the Tommies. Eight of the last nine meetings in the series have been decided by one goal.

UST recorded its eighth shutout of the season, two away from setting a school record.

Concordia had a corner kick with 90 seconds left but tried a short pass and dribble. The ball was kicked out, and Tommie Jeremy Pope took the loose ball near midfield and dashed all the way near the goal before dishing to Radigan on the wing. Radigan punched a perfect shot to the top left corner above the outstretched goalie for the winning goal.

Radigan now has five goals and two assists in the last six games to help the Toms go 5-1 in that span.

Junior Nik Pickett had eight saves in goal for the Cobbers.

St. Thomas plays Saturday at St. Mary's.
