Men's Swimmers ranked 24th in D-III poll

December 30, 2009

The St. Thomas men's swimming and diving team has cracked the national top 25 poll for the first time in several seasons. Coach Tom Hodgson's team is ranked 24th in the rankings by collegeswimming.com, just behind MIAC teams St. Olaf (19th) and Gustavus (22nd).

In MIAC season-best lists thus far, St. Thomas is seeded first in three men's relays, and senior All-American Peter Mullee is seeded first in the 100 back and 50 and 100 free.

The Tommies are training in Florida this week and will have a co-ed meet this Friday in Fort Myers against Division I Howard (D.C.) and the Akron women.

St. Thomas currently has top-25 national rankings -- or finished the last season ranked -- in men's sports of football, basketball, baseball, cross country, swimming and track and field. UST is also ranked in women's golf and volleyball, and will be ranked in spring 2010 in women's track and softball.
