Swimming's Sam Rauchwarter gets MIAC weekly honor

St. Thomas' Sam Rauchwarter (FR-Eagan/Eastview) Monday was named MIAC Athlete of the Week in men's swimming and diving.

Rauchwarter recorded four personal-best times at Saturday's St. Olaf Triple Dual. In the 500 freestyle, Rauchwarter was the meet's top overall finisher with a time of 4:53.93. He added second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.81 for the top time vs. St. Olaf and second-fastest time overall; and iIn the 50 freestyle, where he placed second behind All-American teammate Peter Mullee with a time of 22:33. Rauchwarter also swam a 21:45 split in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Tommies were outscored by the defending MIAC champion Oles by a mere 11 points (154.5-143.5).
