Dave Linn, Sarah Lee make Academic All-District

St. Thomas swimming & diving standout Dave Linn (SO-Milwaukee Wis./Marquette) is one of 11 men named to the 2003 Verizon At-Large Academic All-District first team. This College Division category covers Division II and III and NAIA institutions.

All first-team honorees go onto the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

On the women's At-Large side, UST tennis standout Sarah Lee (SR-Rochester) made second-team Academic All-District.

The at-large category covers the sports of gymnastics, skiing, men's volleyball, wrestling, fencing, ice hockey, water polo, swimming & diving, tennis, golf, rifle, lacrosse, women's crew and women's field hockey.

Linn, a Biology major with a 4.00 grade-point average, is a two-time honorable mention All-American in the 200 backstroke, with NCAA finishes of 14th and 16th place the last two seasons. Linn also swept the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the 2003 and 2003 MIAC Championships.

Linn is a member of the UST Biology Club and has extensive volunteer community service experience with his team, including Toys for Tots, Christmas ornament sale, food-shelf drive and the annual Cancer swim-a-thon.

Lee, who played No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles for the Tommies, has a 3.831 gpa in Political Science. Lee earned All-MIAC honors and was regionally-ranked at No. 1 singles and just missed a berth into the NCAA tournament. In the conference tournament finals, she beat Gustavus' Kris Rosborough, the 23rd-ranked national player. Lee helped the Tommies take second in the MIAC and qualify for the Division III playoffs for second year in row. She finsihed 18-4 at No. 1 singles and 16-6. at No. 2 doubles. In 2002, she went 17-5 in No. 2 singles and 17-5 in No. 1 doubles (second in conference).
