Men's Swimming wins St. Mary's meet

The St. Thomas men's swimming and diving team won the three-team men's division at Saturday's St. Mary's Invitational in Winona. The Tommies scored 488 to top St. Mary's (240) and Hamline (232),

Dave Linn had a hand in four firsts as he swept the 100 backstroke (55.00), 200 back (2:00.00) and 500 free (5:04.14) and joined Dave Turnbloom, Steve Kalschauer and John Kuykendall on the winning 200 medley relay (1:45.27).

Kuykendall also won the 100 free (50.43) and 200 free (1:54.42) and took second in the 50 free (23.17). Kalschauer won the 100 fly (58.61) and took second in the 200 free (1:56.22). Turnbloom won the 100 breaststroke (69.93). Matt Basgall won one-meter diving (82.60) and was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.46).

The Tommies will face St. John's Dec. 13 in Collegeville.
