Fast swim for Tommie men in Florida

The St. Thomas men's swim team had a fast 200 free relay to highlight Friday's UST showing at the Ed Kennedy meet in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., which capped a training trip for the Tommies. The men's team had two relays place high in competition against Division II, III, and NAIA schools.

The 200 Free Relay team of Kevin Mullee, (FR-Madison, Wis./ Memorial), Tim Mullee, (FR-Madison, Wis./Memorial), T.J. Hardy, (FR-Chaska) and Dave Linn (SR-Milwaukee, Wis./Marquette) took second by .07 hundreths in 1:42.57 behind first-place Clarion (Pa.), a top-5 Division II team, which went 1:42.50. The Toms topped D-III powers Williams, Springfield, Middlebury and St. Olaf. The 150 Backstroke team of Dave Linn, T.J. Hardy and Tim Mullee placed third in the D-II, D-III and NAIA division in 1:31.94, behind St. Olaf and Williams.

The top women's relay was the 150 fly relay of Kim Smith (SR-Crystal/Robbinsdale Cooper), Danelle Marsden (JR-Galena, Ill./Dubuque Wahlert) and Kate Boran (JR-Brainerd).

The UST women will compete Jan. 11 in a home dual vs. St. Catherine. The Tommie men and women compete Jan. 14 at Hamline vs. the Pipers, Augsburg and Concordia-Moorhead.
