Men's Swimming rules Macalester Invite

T.J. Hardy and Matt Des Marias each won two events as the St. Thomas men outscored three teams to take the team title Saturday at the Macalester Invitational.

The St. Thomas men scored 460 points to top runner-up Hamline (394) by 66 points. Macalester (281), St. Mary's (82) and a partial St. Olaf team (48) also competed.

The St. Thomas women scored 438 points to top runner-up Macalester (393) by 38 points. Hamline (330), St. Catherine (200), St. Mary's (116) and Augsburg (104) also had full squads and St. Olaf (47) had a partial team.

(All events in meters instead of yards).

Hardy won the 50 free (24.59) and 100 free (54.41). Des Marais swept the 400 free (4:51.45) and 800 free (10:12.61). Kevin Mullee won the 200 fly (2:34.58).

UST men's runners-up were the medley and freestyle relays; Kevin Mullee in the 50 free and 100 fly; Tim Mullee in the 200 back and 200 IM; and Shawn Walker in the 200 fly.

The Tommies compete Dec. 3 in the St. Mary's Invite in Winona.
