Men's Swimming 3rd of 5 at Cardinals' meet

The St. Thomas men's swimming and diving team placed third of five squads at Saturday's St. Mary's Invitational in Winona. Luther (874), Hamline (544), UST (509), Macalester (250) and St. Mary's (96) placed 1-5.

The Tommies had two firsts, led by the 200 free relay in 1:28.48 with T.J. Hardy, Kevin Mullee, Tim Mullee and Mitchell Johnson. Hardy also won the 100 free (49.65), followed in second and third by teammates Kevin Mullee (51.00) and Johnson (51.12).

Fourth-place finishers for UST were Kevin Mullee in the 100 fly (56.27) and the 200 fly (2:21.18); Tim Mullee in the 200 back (2:09.56); and Matt Des Marais in the 1,650 free (19:18.13).

St. Thomas competes next Saturday in Collegeville vs. St. John's.
