The St. Thomas men's swimming & diving team opened its 2007-08 season at Saturday's MIAC relays hosted in Northfield by Carleton. Six men's teams took part in the non-scored competition, which consisted of seven men's relay races, seven women's events and one co-ed (mixed) relay.
The Tommies took second in the mixed 200 medley relay in 1:48.03 with Root (backstroke), Nick Frost (breaststroke), Kevin Mullee (butterfly) and Ney (freestyle).
St. Thomas also placed third in the 900 free relay (8:06.67); added fourth-place finishes in the 300 fly relay (2:45.85) and the 1100 animal relay (12:17.95); placed fifth in the 300 back relay (2:48.69); took sixth in the 300 free (2:18.26); and were seventh in the 300 breaststroke relay (3:17.59) and 400 medley relay (4:14.13).
St. Thomas competes Friday in a dual meet at Carleton (6 p.m.).
