
The St. Thomas men's swimming & diving team placed first of four full teams at Saturday's Macalester Invite held at the College of St. Catherine.
The Tommies compiled 989.5 points to top St. Mary's (415.5), Hamline (307), Macalester (256) and a partial team from St. Olaf (64).
Mathew Moore and Mitchell Johnson each had a hand in three firsts to lead the Tommie men.
The Tommies won the 200 medley relay in 1:42.42 with Moore, John Stark, Luke Spehar and Tim Mullee, and captured first in the 400 free relay in 3:21.48 with T.J. Hardy, Teddy Paterson, Kevin Mullee and Johnson.Moore won the 400 IM (4:30.12) and 200 back (2:02.40) and placed second in the 200 IM (2:05.52) to go with the medley relay. Johnson won the 500 free (5:10.09) and 200 free (1:50.65) to go with the freestyle relay.
Stark won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.52) and took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.07).
Hardy was second in the 50 free (22.35), the 100 free (48.92) and the 100 back (56.59).
Kevin Mullee won the 200 fly (2:16.80), was second in the 100 fly (54.71) and took third in the 50 free (22.60) to go with the freestyle relay.
Andrew Spratt won the 1000 free (10:52.11) and took third in the 500 free (5:16.93).
Brent Johnson was second in the 400 IM (4:52.09).
Paterson was second in the 500 free (5:13.48), second in the 1000 free (11:18.52) and second in the 200 free (1:55.56) to go with the freestyle relay.
Jared Kirk was second in the 200 fly (2:30.81) and sixth in the 400 IM (5:29.97).
Matt Swanson was third in the 200 fly (2:38.90) and fifth in the 400 IM (5:23.20).
Nick Frost won the 200 breaststroke (2:24.24), was third in the 200 IM (2:09.06) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.52).
Kirk Stearns was third in the 400 IM (4:52.41) and sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.90).
Tim Mullee took fourth in the 100 back (59.23), fifth in the 50 free (22.85) and fourth in the 100 fly (58.56) to go with the medley relay.
Keith Johnson was fourth in the 200 free (2:01.36) and fifth in the 100 free (53.58).
Spehar was fourth in the 200 fly (2:47.48). Chase Tyler was fourth in the 1000 free (11:53.11).
Patrick Becker was fifth in both the 100 breaststroke (1:09:29) and 200 breaststroke (2:35.11).
Brent Johnson was fifth in the 500 free (5:30.18). Scott Atkins was fifth in the 200 fly (2:57.01).
Michael Jordan was sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.01)
Jeremy Anderson took third in three-meter diving (137.70) and Andrew Peterson took sixth (103.30). On the one-meter board, Anderson was fourth (150.20) and Peterson was fourth (123.65).
The Tommies have their first home dual meet Tuesday when they face Macalester (6 p.m.) at O’Shaughnessy Pool.
