T.J. Hardy swept the 50 and 100 freestyle races to lead the St. Thomas men's swimming and diving team to third place in Saturday's four-team Gustavus Invitational.
Gustavus was first with 1,252 points followed by Minnesota State Mankato (573.50), the Tommies (536) and St. Mary's (147.50).
Hardy won the 50 free (21.98) and 100 free (48.28); led off the runner-up 200 free relay (1:26.90) along with teammates Kevin Mullee, Tim Mullee and Mitchell Johnson; and anchored the third-place 200 medley relay (1:40.28) with Tim Mulee, Kevin Mullee and Nick Frost.
UST's other top-three swim placing was by Frost, who won the 200 breaststroke (2:16.33). Frost also placed sixth in the 50 free (22.92).
In diving Jeremy Anderson was second on three meter (272.10) and third on one meter (284.15).
Fourths were scored by John Stark in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.83) and 200 breaststroke (2:25.48); Tim Mullee in the 50 free (22.50); Matthew Moore in the 200 back (2:05.89); and Kevin Mullee in the 100 fly (54.41).
Moore also placed fifth in the 400 IM (4:30.30). Sixths were recorded by Kirk Stearns in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.44); and Tim Mullee in the 200 back (2:10.96).The Toms will compete Feb. 14-16 at the MIAC Championships at the U of M Aquatic Center on the Goiphers' campus in Minneapolis.
