Men's Tennis sharp in season-opening win

St. Thomas opened its 2013 tennis seasons with men's and women's home victories Saturday in Anderson Fieldhouse.

The Tommie men won several close matches and scored a 9-0 win over UW-LaCrosse, while the Tommie women topped Division II Upper Iowa, 5-0.

Brendan O'Connell and Brady Radermacher took three-set wins in singles. Steven Skanse and Brendan Hollidge each won three-set decisions in singles and combined to post a narrow 8-6 victory in doubles.

The teams will play scrimmages against UST alumni next Sunday Feb. 10 at Anderson Fieldhouse.
