The MIAC men's and women's tennis playoffs start Friday in St. Peter. The top two seeds in each tourney get Friday byes.
At 3 p.m., No. 5-seed UST plays No. 4-seed St. Benedict, with the winner advancing to Saturday's semifinals. UST lost 8-1 to the Blazers earlier this season.
The Toms closed the regular-season 11-6 overall and 6-4 in MIAC matches. Suzanne Brophy is 10-2 in singles and 6-4 in doubles. Ali Bruflodt is 12-5 in singles and 10-7 in doubles. Madeline Gail is 11-5 in singles and 13-3 in doubles. Hadley Syverud is 10-6 in singles and 13-4 in doubles.

The No. 6-seeded Tommies play third-seed Bethel at noon Friday in the quarterfinals. The winner plays Saturday in the semfinals. UST lost 5-4 to Bethel eight weeks ago.
St. Thomas (12-7 overall, 4-5 MIAC) continued its strong play last week with a 9-0 win over St. Mary’s; a 6-3 loss to MIAC champion Gustavus; and a 7-2 loss to conference runner-up Carleton. The Toms played the SMU and Gustie matches without their top player, injured Tyler Rice. Against Carleton, the Toms lost 9-8 at third doubles and 8-6 at first doubles, then lost three-set decisions at Nos. 3-4 singles.
Dan Cooper is 15-3 in singles and 13-5 in doubles. Andrew Michels is 15-4 in singles and 13-6 in doubles. Tyler Rice is 13-4 in singles and 12-5 in doubles. Kevin Walker is 9-7 in singles and 12-6 in doubles.
