Men's Tennis falls 5-4 to Carleton

April 24, 2003
The St. Thomas men's tennis team had an exciting battle with Carleton Wednesday on the Knights' courts in Northfield but dropped a 5-4 decision.

The Tommies (13-4 overall, 7-2 MIAC) finished third in the conference regular-season standings behind 9-0 Gustavus and 8-1 Carleton. The final MIAC standings will be determined by combining the duals record with this weekend's team tournament in Northfield. The Tommies are the No. 3 seed and play No. 6-seed St. Olaf in Friday's first round at 1 p.m.

The Tommies won close matches at Nos. 1 doubles with Matt Kramer and John Ryan, and No. 2 doubles with Tut Fuller and Brian Thomas, but lost 8-6 at third doubles. They won close matches at Nos. 5-6 singles with John Thomas and Blair Madsen but Kramer lost a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.
