Men's Tennis takes second in MIAC Championships
April 26, 2003
St. Thomas went 2-1 in the Friday-Saturday MIAC Men's Tennis Championships in Northfield, losing 9-0 to No. 2-ranked Gustavus in the championships match.
The Tommies (15-5) earlier defeated St. Olaf 9-0 and Concordia 7-2. Those wins should vault the Tommies into second place in the final conference standings, which count the tournament and regular-season duals.
Against the Gusties, the Toms lost third-set tiebreakers at Nos. 3-4-5-6 singles.
Tommie No. 1 player Matt Kramer (SR-Eagan) was named co-recipient of the MIAC's Arthur Ashe Award for exceptional leadership, academics and overall play.
