Men's, Women's Tennis get ITA Academic Award

The St. Thomas men's and women's tennis teams were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as 2003 Scholar-Athletic Teams.

Coach Terry Peck's Tommie men, who finished second in the MIAC standings and had a 15-5 dual record, had a 3.6729 grade-point average on the 2002-2003 academic year among its 13-man roster, including starters Nick Donohue (4.00 gpa), Tut Fuller (3.928), John Ryan (3.833) and Brian Thomas (3.756) with grade-point averages over 3.75.

There were 25 teams nominated in Division III with gpas of 3.20 or higher.

Peck's eight-player UST women's team was among 45 Division III teams honored and finished with a gpa of 3.535 in 2002-2003.
