April 23, 2005
St. Thomas had a couple of good battles in doubles but fell 9-0 on the day to No. 5-ranked Gustavus in an MIAC men's dual tennis match Friday indoors in Bloomington.
St. Thomas came back Saturday and won a hard-fought 5-4 decision at St. John's. The match was moved indoors and SJU won two of the three doubles points. But UST received singles points from seniors Blair Madsen, Tut Fuller, Brian Thomas, and Tom Loper. Madsen and Fuller pulled out wins the super 10-point tiebreakers. Loper and Ben Herding won a key match at second doubles.
The Toms (13-3 overall, 7-2 MIAC) will compete in the MIAC tournament as the No. 3 seed next weekend.
