Tennis teams start MIAC tourney play Friday

The St. Thomas men's and women's tennis teams will each be the No. 3 seed in the two-day conference tournaments that begin Friday.

Led by seniors Tut Fuller, Brian Thomas, Blair Madsen and Tom Loper, the Tommie men face St. Olaf Friday at noon in St. Peter, and with a win will advance to Saturday's 11 a.m. semifinals, likely against No. 2-seed Carleton.

The Tommie women play the Concordia-St. Olaf winner at noon Friday at Hamline's courts. That winner also plays in Saturday's semifinals, most likely vs. No. 2-seed Carleton.

Gustavus is the top-seed and the heavy favorite to win both the men's and women's divisions.
