Men's Tennis has five All-MIAC

St. Thomas has five men's tennis players named to the All-MIAC teams announced today. Newcomers Arya Vayghan (FR-North Oaks/Mounds View) and Tyler Rice (FR-North Oaks/Mounds View) were honored in both singles and doubles; Josh Tomashek (SR-Rochester/Mayo) was honored in doubles; and Ben Herding (SR-Hastings) and Kevin Manzel (SR-Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert) were honored in singles.

Manzel also was named to the MIAC Sportsmanship team.

Vayghan is 19-2 this school year at first singles and also is 14-4 in doubles and is on the bubble for selection into the NCAA tournament in singles. Vayghan's lone 2008 spring singles defeat is 7-6, 6-0 to Gustavus' John Kauss. Last fall, Vayghan went 4-1 at the ITA tournament with a 6-3, 7-6 loss to Gustavus All-American Andy Bryan.

The Tommies placed fourth in the conference standings and lost in the playoff semifinals.
