The St. Thomas men's indoor track and field team opened its season at Friday's three-team UW-Eau Claire Invite. The Toms, who posted four firsts, five seconds and three thirds, held out several athletes and scored 162 to first-place Eau Claire's 295.
Freshmen Eyo Ekpo and Eric Lois had a first and a second. Ekpo won the high jump (6-2) and was second in the long jump (21-2 3-4). Lois won the 400 (51.55) and was second in the 200 (23.70).
Ben Sathre (4:23.35) and Mike Hutton (52.63) went 1-2 in the mile. UST also won the 4x400 relay (3:28.33).
Matt Griswold was second in the 55 hurdles (7.93). Pat Jager (51.73) and Ben Yorkovich (52.63) placed 2-3 in the 400. Anthony Kelly was third in the pole vault (13-5 1-4) and Cameron Roemhildt was third in the triple jump (42-4 3-4).
