
The St. Thomas men had 12 top-10 finishes at Saturday’s non-team scored Northwest Open track and field meet at the University of Minnesota. The Tommies had a partial squad in their first competition of 2013.
Eyo Ekpo took second in the high jump (6-8 3-4) and seventh in the long jump (21-4 3-4).
Bryan Thell (54-6 1-2) and Abajemo Omot (51-7 3-4) placed 4-5 in the weight throw. Devin Dirth (47-8 1-2) and Thell (47-1) placed 6-7 in the shot put.
Jay May was fourth in the pole vault (15-0 1-4); Cody Jerabek placed fifth in the 60 meters (7.00); Andrew Leonard was fifth in the 400 meters (52.93); Joe Wistrcill took sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.73); Maxwell Dunne took ninth in the pole vault (14-6 1-4); Nicholas Braunig placed ninth in the long jump (20-8).
The Tommies will play host to a men’s and women’s competition Friday at Anderson Fieldhouse.
