Good start for men's, women's indoor track

Several Tommie men and women placed in Saturday's season-opening Northwest Open indoor track and field meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. Minnesota, Iowa State and several Division II and III teams had athletes in the competition, which included partial UST squads.
For the UST men, sophomore Justin Hall won the 200 meters (22.86); freshman Tom Hart won the developmental 200 in 23.09; Chris Milton won the developmental pole vault in 14-9; Parker Gunderson took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.52; and Andrew Kisilius was sixth in the long jump in 21-0 1-2 and seventh in the 200 in 23.75.
For the Tommie women, Heidi Vogel was sixth in the 200 (27.45) and second in the triple jump (33-2 1-2); Katie Bestlu was seventh in the 200 (27.68) and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.33); Katie Arnes was third in the high jump (5-3); freshman Nicole Meidl was sixth in the pole vault (10-0); Tish Dusich was seventh in the 600 (1:44.70); and Kelly Faris was 10th in the mile (5:17.55).
