Men's Track gets six firsts at Macalester meet

St. Thomas entered a partial squad and won six events in Wednesday's Macalester Twilight men's track and field meet.

Jason Schweitz (22.5) and Justin Hall (22.6) finished 1-2 in the 200; Craig Benson won the 110 hurdles (15.05); Andrew Hilliard won the 400 hurdles (54.36); Joe McCarney won the long jump (21-1 1-4); Andrew Kisielius won the triple jump (43-8 1-2); and the Toms won the 4x100 relay (42.62).

Other top-six finishers for the Tommies were Matt McLaughlin, second in the shot put (47-5 3-4) and sixth in the hammer (132-6); Ben Garbe, third in the triple jump (42-2 3-4); Carson Glad, third in the 100 (11.55); Aaron Johnson, third in the hammer (141-6); Eric Liang, fifth in the triple jump (41-0 1-2); Tom Hart, sixth in the 100 (11.74); Gabe Skelly, sixth in the shot put (39-11 1-2); and Dave Ostlund, sixth in the discus (130-7).

The Tommies will send six athletes to the Friday-Saturday Drake Relays in Des Moines for two relays. Glad, Hall, Hart Hilliard, Schwietz and Roman Cress will run on the 4x100 and/or 4x400 relays.

The rest of the UST team will compete at Saturday's St. John's Invitational.
